Two Rivers Center for Spiritual Living
A Science of Mind Community
Sheryl Rogers, Minister
Sheryl Rogers, MinisterRev. Sheryl started attending Mile Church of Religious Science in Denver in the early 1970’s where she instantly felt at home with the Science of Mind teaching. After moving to Grand Junction in 1980, she became involved in the local Religious Science church and began taking classes, getting her Practitioner license in 1992. She returned to Denver in 1994 to attend that satellite campus of Holmes Institute, graduating in 1997. January 1, 2000, she started her new calling in a new city at the beginning of a new century in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she was the minister at the Center of Light. In September 2002, after much soul-searching, she felt it was time to move back to her family, friends (and sunshine) in Colorado. Rev. Sheryl currently works full time as the Accounting Director for a non-profit in Grand Junction and has answered the call to be the part-time interim minister of Two Rivers Center, helping it grow in numbers and consciousness.
Dr. Carl Wahlberg, President
Carl began his work with metaphysics under the tutelage of Dr. Fred Vogt at Mile Hi Church of Religious Science in Denver. In 1968, he became a Mile Hi practitioner. In the mid-seventies, he and his wife Betty moved to Grand Junction, where he met Jeanne Thomas, another metaphysician, who encouraged him to start a reading group. In 1980, he and the others in the group established the Grand Junction Church of Religious Science. Before retiring, Carl obtained his doctorate in Education and served in many educational capacities, including interim president of Mesa College. As board president, he knows that Spirit will bringTwo Rivers Center for Spiritual Living to its permanent home with a full time minister.
Evelyn Billberg, Vice-president
Evelyn has been involved in metaphysical and spiritual studies for over 45 years. When she moved back to Grand Junction, her home town, she and her husband wanted to find a church community. Science of Mind was the most attractive and they became involved in the local church. Evelyn was Assistant Music Director and enjoyed helping with the music each Sunday. When it became clear that a new church would be the best solution for many followers of Religious Science, she worked to help form this new organization and continues to help by serving on the new board, lending her organizational and management skills to help with this new spiritual community. Evelyn has a private piano studio, teaching students of all ages.
Anna Scott, Secretary
Anna Scott has been involved in Religious Science for sixteen yars. She was immediately “at home” with the Religious Science philosophy. She began taking classes and was so excited by the changes in her life that she continued and became a practitioner in 1998.She believes that this philosophy is a light for the world. She is committed to the life of this center and this uplifting philosophy. Above all she knows that God is good.
Penny Tarr, Treasurer
Glenn Lewis, Member-at-large
Over the years, Glenn tried several traditional religions, searching and wanting to understand the “God concept.” While attending a self-improvement seminar in Denver, he was invited by new friends made at the seminar to attend the Mile Hi Church of Religious Science. Glenn connected instantly to the message of Religious Science.
He returned to Grand Junction after the seminar; his mission was to find a like-minded church in the valley. Checking the yellow pages, he found the Unity church and the ReligiousScienceCenter. He made the decision to attend the Religious Science church one Sunday and the following Sunday to attend the Unity church. He has yet to attend the Unity church.
Glenn became very active in the church, attending classes and serving on the Board of Trustees, resigning to leave Colorado for other employment.
Sixteen years later, in 2007, he moved back to Grand Junction and discovered the Science of Mind study group, which has become the TwoRiversCenter for Spiritual Living. Glenn is excited to again be with his church “family” and friends on a new spiritual journey, growing individually and as a group.
He follows Dr. Holmes’ simple wonderful philosophy: Change your thinking, Change your life!
Beth Palmer, Member-at-large
Beth Palmer has been a member of the Science of Mind/Religious Science community in Grand Junction for ten years, but has studied metaphysical philosophies much longer. Passing the SOM church on 29 Road, she felt an overwhelming sense of peace; she knew that Spirit was guiding her steps. She joined the church and studied to be a practitioner. She’s looking forward to finishing her “prac” training in her new spiritual home. She knows the Law of Good is always working in her life, and being a Charter Board Member is a wonderful opportunity for her to contribute something positive to our new TwoRiversCenter for Spiritual Living. She looks forward to serving on the board and giving the love she has received in the past back to the congregation.
